Any other way to pay for World of Warcraft?

I'm fine with paying for World of Warcraft, but is there any way to do it at my leisure? I don't want them suddenly taking money out of the account with no warning, I want to tell them it's okay. I don't want a reoccurring subscription, but I didn't see any other choice, they MADE me choose one.
